Cycle 04 · The relapse

The Punishment Cycle

The response that feels like justice and functions like fuel.

Chapter in development

Mass incarceration and the registry satisfy the need to punish while manufacturing the instability, isolation, and next-generation adversity that drive the next harm. This chapter will open with the registry — and the question of who we have quietly decided to stop seeing.

Accountability that faces only backward is not a safety strategy. It is a ritual — and we have been performing it while the cycle runs.

This chapter is being written to the same standard as the sexual-harm chapter and the Trauma Cycle — evidence-led, fully cited, every door kept open. In the meantime, the two completed chapters show what it will become.
